ABOUT ABOUT
The 27th Fair features more than 300 literary superstars. Confirmed authors include Harvard biologist and naturalist Edward O. Wilson, MacArthur Fellow and Haitian-American author Edwidge Danticat, screenwriter and author Nora Ephron, musician Patti Smith, South Florida’s own Dave Barry, novelist Michael Cunningham, underground comics legend Denis Kitchen, filmmaker John Waters, New Journalism pioneer Gay Talese, as well as Salman Rushdie, Kate DiCamillo, Emilio Estefan, Jonathan Franzen and many others.

The Fair will again treat book lovers to more than a week of cultural and educational activities, including the beloved Evenings With series, the IberoAmerican Authors program, Student Literary Encounters, the Weekend Festival of Authors, Children’s Alley, the Teen Scene, and the Comix Galaxy, featuring Kids Comic Con, the School of Comics for educators and creators, and more!

This year the Fair has partnered with the Mexican government, the Consulate General of Mexico in Miami and the Mexican Cultural Institute in Miami to celebrate Mexico. A grand pavilion will feature its literarture, food, music and films. Presenting authors include Rosa Beltrán, Mario Bellatín, Gonzalo Celorio, Jorge Volpi and Estela Leñero.

“More books than prisoners” is the goal of a project jointly spearheaded by the Fair and the Mexican Cultural Institute in Miami as part of our celebration of Mexico. Fairgoers are asked to donate new or gently used books in the months leading up to the Fair. Mexican artists will build a colossal spiral of books on the Fairgrounds. These books will then be donated to South Florida jails. A similar spiral of books was constructed in Mexico City with 10,090 books. Help us reach our goal of surpassing that number! Donate books today!
